FUNTO Law Firm Lawyer Maisy Ling Was Invited to Attend the 2024 Intellectual Property Criminal Protection Forum

From August 5 to August 6, 2024, Mrs. Maisy Ling attended the 2024 Intellectual Property Criminal Protection Forum hosted by the Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) on behalf of our clientThis intellectual property criminal protection forum was co-hosted by the INTERPOL International IP Crime Investigators College (IIPCIC), IP Key China and United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).



On August 5, 2024, the 2024 Intellectual Property Criminal Protection Forum organized by QBPC officially opened. Mr. Michael Ding, the Chairman of the QBPC delivered an opening speech, expressing his earnest hope that the forum would provide a platform for judicial department as well as experts and scholars to discuss intellectual property criminal protection on domestic and foreign industries. Participants delivered keynote speeches and thematic speeches on criminal intellectual property protection in their respective industries. Through practical experience sharing by police, prosecutors, and judges from various regions, Mrs. Maisy Ling gained insights into the current situation of the general implementation of criminal and civil cases for intellectual property and the current situation of the priority of civil compensation in some regions, which inspired her deeply.

 

On August 6, 2024, the agenda of the 2024 QBPC Criminal Intellectual Property Protection Forum consisted of four topics, focusing on “New Trends, Challenges and Explorations in Criminal IP Enforcement,” “Digital Economy and IP Protection,” “New Hotspots and New Characteristics of IP Litigation, Criminal Incidental Civil Litigation,” and “International Collaboration & Exchange on Criminal IP Enforcement”. During the forum, prosecutors, judges, police officers, researchers, legal counsels from various industries jointly discussed the topics such as new trends and characteristics of IP criminal offenses, cross-border collaboration and innovation between civil and criminal proceedings, effective excavation of upstream and downstream clues, and the experiences in combating full-chain intellectual property infringement.

 

The 2024 Intellectual Property Criminal Protection Forum came to a successful end through the efforts of all parties. Mrs. Maisy Ling believes that through continuous practical exchanges and sustained efforts, all relevant parties will undoubtedly achieve greater progress in the criminal protection of intellectual property in the future.
